- Ingredients:
- 750 g ripe tomatoes or 1 can tomatoes
- 1-2 chili peppers
- 2 cloves garlic
- 60 g brown sugar
- 4 tbsp fresh chopped basil
- salt
Preparation:

Peel fresh tomatoes and cut up finely. Crush canned tomatoes if necessary. Remove seeds. Finely chop garlic and chili peppers.
Slowly heat tomatoes, garlic, and chili peppers. Stir in sugar until it has dissolved completely. Bring the relish to a boil and then simmer ca. 20 minutes until it becomes thick. Add basil and season to taste with salt.
Serve relish (tomato-chili sauce) cold or warm. It makes an excellent barbecue dip.
