- Ingredients:
- 500 g short pasta (e.g., fusili, penne, or farfalle)
- 1 red pepper
- 400 g tomatoes
- 1 small onion
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 small chili pepper
- 1 tsp sugar
- salt, pepper
- ca. 3 tbsp fresh basil
- olive oil
Preparation:

Cook pasta according to the package instructions.
In the meantime, peel and dice onions and tomatoes. Wash pepper, remove seeds and ribs, and dice. Peel and finely dice garlic. Remove seeds from chili pepper, and chop finely.
Heat 2-3 tbsp olive oil in a pan and sweat onion until translucent. Add and continue to sweat pepper, chili pepper, and garlic.
Then add diced tomatoes and sugar. Simmer sauce ca. 5-10 minutes. In the meantime rip up the basil leaves and add them just before the sauce is finished. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
Pour the pepper-tomato sauce over the pasta and serve with parmesan cheese as desired.
