- Ingredients:
- 4 cl rum
- ½ lime
- coke (to fill up glass)
- 2-3 ice cubes
- Decoration:
- a slice of lime
Preparation:

Press out lime and pour juice into a longdrink glass.
Pour rum (best is a brown Cuban rum) in the glass, add ice cubes and fill up with coke.
Cut the lime slice to the middle and garnish.
Serve with a straw.
Note: Cuba Libre translates from Spanish as “free Cuba”. The cocktail Cuba Libre originates in Havana, Cuba. However, now this cocktail is served throughout the world.
A lemon can also be used instead of a lime, but it tastes that much more refreshing with lime juice.
I haven’t been able to visit Cuba yet, but when I ordered a Cuba Libre in Mexico, the barkeeper quipped: “¡Cuba Libre – La mentira más grande del mundo! ¿Por qué? ¡Porque Cuba no está libre!” (Cuba Libre - the biggest lie in the world! Why? Because Cuba is not free!) It seems Mexicans think more like Americans.
